The Drum Tower is in the old section of Datong within the old city wall. It has been well preserved and due to it's historical importance should not be missed.

Stay in the Garden Hotel in Datong (59 Yongtai Street) and you'll find the old drum tower literally on your doorstep. One of the remaining truly genuine older structures still standing in Datong. Given how Datong was an important centre of resistance during the Sino-Japanese War and was heavily shelled, it's a miracle it survived.

Among all the building in this area, I found this one pretty close to its original shape, The whole old town of Datong is being rebuilt and under construction. A lot of places and old style house have become shops for tourists.In any case, it is very nice to take a walk around. I really appreciate the efforts done to make this area look like it should be, even if it appear evident that everything is pretty new and rebuilt.

元代戏台。魏村牛王庙戏台，非常宝贵。木构，石砖基地。老乡说，木头没换过。说社火闹了十天，昨天刚结束。现在只我一人，细细待会儿吧

运城的名字是因为元朝在运城这个地方设立盐运司这么个官，所以后世以盐运之城简称运城。池神庙是讲述盐在运城发展历史的重要建筑物。

池神庙没看见买票的，我们推门就进了，里面有很多大殿，但是看起来不像开放的样子，殿里没有塑像！我们到处闲逛，看看各处大殿，奶奶姥姥非常认真地阅读殿前的介绍石碑，相传舜时就有人开发盐池了，到唐时盐池收入已占到全国赋税的四分之一！中间是碑林，有各种歌颂父母官的碑，其中还有郭沫若的题词！

免费凭票参观，网上可以预约，但是要提前3日提交预约单，然后请持有效证件在博物院东门领票，参观时间是9：00—17：00 （16：00停止入馆），别忘了，所有的博物馆都是周一闭馆的呦。博物院主要围绕着“晋”文化开讲的，馆藏丰富，多媒体运用的好，相当有特色，很长知识。

基本上是以晋文化为主轴的文物及历史展示，特别是上古三代到晋文公霸业，明清晋商崛起到末落的介绍，在小小解说员的讲解之下，仿佛穿越过去，有了深刻的体会，是了解山西历史文化不可不去的第一站。

以晋商为中心的博物馆，各种历史展品能够让人追溯到晋商的兴衰史，历史氛围很浓，讲解员的讲解十分的到位，能够感觉到历史的沉淀。

山西博物院公交不方便，仅有一趟公交直接到达。凭证件免费领票参观，入口要经过安检，液体不能带入。展出的内容多，山西也是中华文化起源地之一。7月时，在一层有临展，介绍印度石刻。值得去看几次。
