This attraction gets very good reviews. I consider it must be separated into two parts - the food and the show. In terms of the food - very average. The review of the food by Kyokokinura accords with my view. If I was a reviewing the food only I would give this 1 star. However the show is good quality. Colourful, skilful and interesting. I am not sure how valuable it is in terms of understanding Chinese history. Would I recommend this? Certainly not for the food (and it is possible to take a 'no food' show). The show is good - but not a 'must not miss'.

You carnt go to Xian without going to this show.You go inside and there is a restrant there.You have your dinner there and the stage is up the front but it does not matter were your sitting you can still see the show. The dancers were wonderful.Ruth

My wife and I attended the Shaanxi Dinner Theater at the strong recommendation of our local guide, Holly. The Dumpling Banquet, as she called it was very enjoyable. Before the show we were treated to a delicious meal of Chinese delights as our waitress brought us plate after plate of many various visually appealing and tasty dumplings. Some were made to look like fish or ducks or animals. After the filling meal, the staff cleared the tables and the show began. Before each segment began, the Emperor and Empress introduced and explained, in Chinese and in English, the significance and the meaning of the traditional Chinese music and the dance which followed.The musicians played traditional Chinese instruments, a few of which were quite unusual to us. The costumes were gorgeous and the dancing was graceful and well choreographed. Yes, this dinner theater was designed for tourists, but we were tourists and we enjoyed this glimpse of Chinese culture.I would recommend this dinner theater, including the meal, for visitors to Xi'an.

But it's just one of those things you have to go and do. Considering it's not really my thing I have to say it was well staged and interesting. We chose not to have the meal which was probably a mistake as it looked really good.

We have been to this theater last year, and i watch it again this time. It is very good cultural show which can not be missed.

高手在民间呀，陕西民间的剪纸艺术也被放在这里进行讲解。有十二生肖的，里面最喜欢小猴子了，在摘桃子吃呢，特别的俏皮可爱，还有传统的中国龙，贴窗花，小胖娃娃，绣花的姑娘，很多种生活中常见的都能剪出来。还有毛笔的制作过程，太开眼界了。

Our tour included this as a stop in Xi'an. I was glad they did include this in our itinerary. Visit was educational and interesting. Guide was knowledgeable. Our group also got a free crash course in Chinese Calligraphy. There was an option to buy paintings of selected talented students of which the money goes towards their education. Museum guide does not force you to buy these paintings. As I mentioned, it was an option if you are interested. By the way, the paintings were all exceptional. It took me awhile to decide what to buy. Prices are also reasonable and negotiable. I was happy with my purchase.

While in Xian we visited the Tangbo Art Museum where we discovered an extensive display of Chinese art from various periods and in a variety of styles. We had a guided tour in English that was most interesting and informative. This was followed by a demonstration of calligraphy where we were invited to try for ourselves (with varying levels of success!). They also have for sale a wide variety of paintings by local students. These are of high quality and reasonably priced - no hard sell however.Well worth a visit!

and you need to pay to the paint you want - the problem is that students paint and they put some recommended price - but the recommended price is too high for most of the paints - you need to argue a lot in order to get better price. (By the way - beautiful pictures)
